Under the direction of school counselor and SCA sponsor Necole Brown, students at Canterbury Woods Elementary are working together to help brighten the lives of children in foster care. Build-A-Bear generously donated 40 bears to the school for this project. Each class was given a bear to “foster” with love and kindness for two weeks. Students were asked to dress their bear for winter, provide some books to share with their new person, include a special item (such as letters, coloring, a small toy) that the bear can share with the recipient, and to pack the bear up to be transported to its new home. The bears were then transported to the Fairfax County Department of Social Services to be distributed to children currently living in foster care.
